Camera ball and stitched image

The Apache Strap-Down Pilotage (ASDP) project from the University of Arizona developed a 21-camera long-wave infrared system for the Apache helicopter. The phase-1 IR camera ball is shown above, along with a display wall showing a cylindrical projection of a stitched 21-camera feed from a visible-light camera flown on a commercial helicopter over the desert.

The Composite Submodule shown above performs the image distortion correction, stitching, depth estimation, motion latency compensation, and overlay of analysis detections.

The source code for this and the other ASDP modules are available under Apache 2 license. The Render Module is available here.
